This weekend was another terrific one for Project: Potemkin as we came together to film two vignettes (both written by David Eversole). Cast members Jeffrey Green, Eric R. Moore, Chris Coleman, Abby Evans, Dakota Dodge, Bill Mackenzie, Ande Ross, Stephanie Burke and Kim Landers came together Friday to film "Command Decision." The temperature on the set was cold and getting colder, but the cast did a great job, and we were able to complete the filming in about two and a half hours. On Saturday, Guest Star Ann Young joined the cast, and Eric Holt and Jessie Edwards tackled the makeup for Kim Landers' role of M'Anna, a Caitian navigator. The temperature on the set was truly cold until things warmed up. The Saturday shoot lasted 6 hours (about right for 6 pages). William C. Searcy took some excellent photos which he's shared here. Linda Marcusky hosted both shoots, and all in all it was an excellent end of the year. Look for one more SHORT vignette to finish up the Second Season of Potemkin!

My thanks to everyone involved with the production, for this weekend's shoot, as well as all the others this year. Next year, let's hope for more of the same!

Nice cast photo.  I am going to be honest though.  The caitian isn't convincing at all.  For one, her human ears are showing along with her cat ears, and that doesn't work.  The cat ears... not very realistic.  I would rethink this if I were you.  Maybe find a costume shop that has latex appliances and try for a more catlike appearance.  I wish I could say it works, but it doesn't in this case.

I did a google search on 'cat makeup' and found some examples that are makeup only that look like they'd be a good thing for you to get some inspiration from:

Some are simple, some are more complicated, but the main thing is avoiding two sets of ears and non-realistic ones.

I also found some 'how to' video info for you: http://www.squidoo.com/leopard-makeup?utm_source=google&utm_medium=imgres&utm_campaign=framebuster

Fair criticism and good suggestions, thanks!

The real ears don't show in the footage. They're covered by her hair. We were more flummoxed by the fake ones. They're too large, but we intended to animate them, so maybe we'll trim them a bit in post. I'm going to contact the folks that usually supply our prosthetics about a more realistic looking appliance.

You know, it's really, really, strange to be proven wrong on this, but apparently it IS possible to have four ears on a cat!  Check this out:

"The Night The Stars Fell from the Sky" looks like quite a project with many characters, both on ship and planet side scenes and combat scenes.  Looks like it's going to be a good one.

That is the darnedest thing I've seen this week!

It threw me for a loop too.  I thought it was photo editing, until I Googled it and found out it's an extremely rare mutation.  Apparently, both parents have to carry the gene for the kittens to even have it.  The extra ear "flaps" are basically useless, much like people with third nipples or extra fingers.
