Youtube darkens the video, I do not think that that the teaser was light corrected for youtube, I could be wrong... Sox or Rob?

The episode is actually still IN PRODUCTION. We have a bunch of stuff we still need to film, or re-film due to several different issues.

Along with needed pickups for TPM, James is working on scheduling them.

The video you quote is running on the startrekphase2DE YouTube channel I run.

When I look at this video, the video looks fine. There are some scenes where the set lighting leaves some people in shadow, e.g. at 1:00 where Spock, McCoy and Kirk are all in shadow, yet the exposure for the three guests are all correct.

This is even more apparent at  1:11 where the back of Kirk's neck is correctly exposed, yet the rest of his face is in shadow. Gil Gerrold, on the other hand, is perfectly exposed meaning that the darkness is a lighting problem on the set, not a YouTube problem darkening the video.

It is very possible that this lighting setup was designed for dramatic effect and to emphasise the importance of the guests.

This video clip allows you to compare between the original video as we received it on the left, and the enhanced version on the right.

The video on the right was corrected using the video processing software vReveal Premium, version 3.2.0.13029M, where the software's automatic correction features for Auto Contrast, Deinterlace and Auto White Balance were used. This does improve the contrast quite a bit.

Please tell me which version works best for you by adding a comment. Do you prefer the version on the left or the enhanced version on the right?

If you guys prefer the version on the right, and there is no objection from James's video team, I could release the video in the enhanced version on YouTube.

I have now also uploaded two different enhancements as full videos for you guys to comment on. Which do you prefer:

I posted my comments on Youtube for the comparison video.  Of all the videos, I like the original the best.  It is darker but is has a more cinematic feel that way and colors are truer.  There is too much washout of skin tone with the brighter videos, particularly Scotty all the time and the two officers standing on the right when looking down from the transporter pads.   On the white balanced video, there is a point there where Gil's face seems to have a bluish tinge which changes to flesh tone over a period of a few seconds.

Looking at the videos myself, I think we can safely eliminate the white balanced version as that changes the colours too much.

I have therefore created a new comparison video between the original and the contrast corrected version (no white balance correction).

My two cents, the right one has occasional bright light blotching as a result of the adjustment, and therefore would take the original. However ... the original has (at least in the youtube cut), black spots on parts of the frame that are not actually black, because there is information in there when the brightness is enhanced.  hahaha, maybe not a help to say i'd like a bit of both?
