I was wondering was there any chance of this storm getting near Port Henry and if so I pray that everyone will be ok.

I'm west of Port Henry and we are perparing for it so yes I would  yes Port Henry is in the path of it as they are closer to the Well  the coast then I am.

It will be affecting  the city of Ottawa  Ont.in Canada if that gives you an idea how far in land and abit further would not surprise me if Watertown in NY gets hit by it.

Along with the rain and nasty from Sandy some of us along the  borader will also be hit with a cold front coming down from Canada, many schools were not opened or let out early so the kids are home and off the roads.

All we can do now is wait and hope.

I'm probably going to be up all night tonight.  A dear friend lives in Sussex County, New Jersey.  And as of a moment ago, her landline phone was unreachable (and she doesn't have a cellphone).  If my reading of the news is correct, Sandy made landfall less than a hundred miles from her home - full-force.  During an earlier storm (Hurricane Irene), she lost electricity for 10 days.  And not that long after Irene, Sussex County had a snowstorm during which she lost electricity for another 2 weeks.

Jeez ... watching MSNBC which has live coverage from Atlantic City.  And they've lost contact with their reporters 3 times so far (as long as I've been watching).  So far, 3 dead - one in Maryland, one in Connecticut, and one in New York - the last two due to falling trees, the first an auto accident.

Sending positive thoughts to everyone on the NE coast and inland.

Man,I can't believe this is happening to the states of NY at all!

My prayers are with everyone there,and I pray this doesn't disrupt the cawley studios building most of all for james and everyone's sakes as well.

I live in Ohio,but I can't wait till this crazy storm is over with. Hang in there folks,my prayers are with you all.

Everyone:

   The studio came through fine. The crew is busy erecting the shuttle-craft set in a warm, dry studio!

   The portion of NY State between Saratoga Springs and Port Henry was relatively unscathed. We are very lucky and blessed.

   Yet, to the South the damages and recovery effort are severe.

   The shoot is full-steam-ahead!

It obviously helped to apply the shields during the storm, the deflectors must have been working to maximum capacity.

Well,

  Now that Sandy has passed by, the real weather, Old Man Winter, is dropping by. Temps the next few days will range from a low of 22F (-4C) to a high of 45F (+7C). Nature's  air conditioning is working, !!!

  With the large oil furnace and the lights, the studio should be warm enough for filming and crew work.

I'm doing clean up as are others...but we still go when the help is needed.

Had fun just before the rain came trying to make up my mind if I should go find a stary cats babies ( 3 weeks old) and get where they would be safer then just being in the field. Mom was happy to see help come, as of this morning they are still where I put them.


North Country Sends Help To Hurricane Victims  Story Updated: Oct 31, 2012 at 4:28 PM EDT
North country assets are being sent south to help with relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Among them are crews and equipment from the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project in Massena are heading downstate to help restore power on Long Island.They're among 1,900 utility crews on their way to help with recovery efforts.

 Members of the 10th Mountain Division Combat Aviation Brigade left Wednesday morning for Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts so they're in a better position to help with hurricane relief.
Eight Black Hawk helicopters with trained and equipped crews are better positioned and prepared to support hurricane relief missions if requested.

The St.Lawrnece-Franklin D Roosvelt Power Project is the dam on the St. LawrenceRiver between the US and Canada electircity from here also gose to NYC. Massena is about 15 miles from me.

 The 10th Mountian Division has been around for decades it was once called Pine Camp then Camp Drum,now it is called Fort Drum,It is about 85 miles from me and I have been on it twice the first time I was feeling so good finding a parking place  that when I looked I found I had parked in Generals parking spot..yes I moved double time

Remember during the "O.J. Simpson" coverage how CBS News followed his Bronco by helicopter?  And once the Bronco came to a stop, on-ground CBS cameramen focused on the Bronco ... knowing they could be seconds away from possibly witnessing (and broadcasting) a live, prime-time suicide.  Luckily, there was no live prime-time suicide broadcast ... but I've always thought of those moments as being irresponsible broadcasting on CBS's part.  I mean, really, what would they have done had O.J. pulled the trigger, with brain parts being blown though a window onto the street?  Break for a McDonald's commercial?  Sheesh.

Well, now we might be in the same situation.  Not a live prime-time suicide - but possibly a live prime-time riot.  The Weather Channel is monitoring the situation at a gas station in Ridgefield, NJ:

This is taken of the "people" side of the station where people are filling up gas cans.  There's also a "car" side where people are filling up their vehicles ... after waiting in lines for as long as two hours.  The problem?  The Weather Channel just announced that the area police had called for "backup."  No problem now.  But the station manager told them they were close to running out of gas.  And, everyone there is expecting things to "get ugly" when they do.  If it does get ugly, it will be interesting to see if the Weather Channel reverts to responsible "reportage" of the event ... or zooms in for the "blow-by-blow" coverage.

P.S.  The angst in Ridgefield, NJ is intensified by the knowledge that in Elizabeth, NJ, stations have plenty of gas ... and the suspicion that the more affluent areas of New Jersey are being serviced first.

Well I only lost power for 2 days, but parts of my town are estimated to be without power for 7-10 days. I had to go to the next town over for work and they got hit much worse, including loosing 4 houses to a fire the night of the hurricane. They have gas and are right on the CT/NY border. I would sat 2 to 3 cops at each gas station to control the lines of out of state cars coming to fill up.
