Despite being the poll winner, the name "Vulcan" was rejected by the IAU on the grounds that it has been used elsewhere in astronomy and is not sufficiently associated with the mythology of Pluto (the ruler of the underworld).
They went instead for the names that came second and third in the poll: "Kerberos" and "Styx".
In other news, a new moon was discovered to orbit Neptune today. - Just when you think we know everything about our solar system, something comes up to surprise us. I wonder what else is out there to be discovered? - And if we still don't have an accurate count of even the bodies in our own solar system, what must be awaiting discovery in the countless other solar systems in our galaxy?
