Mind Sifter

I was looking at the list of future episodes, and I noticed that "Mind Sifter" was no longer listed there.  Did something happen?

Mind Sifter is on hold at the moment. When or if production begins again scenes that where shot with James Cawley will be redone with Brian Gross as Kirk.

Oops, I didn't know that. I know (we all know) about the "He Walked Among Us" situation, and I understood that Phase II can't film any episode which was ment to be filmed for Star Trek as CBS/Paramount have the copyright for the scripts. "Kitumba" and "The Protracted Man" are save because they were already filmed. But "Mind Sifter" was not ment to be filmed as a Star Trek episode.

The question is, what has CBS/Paramount to do with the book Star Trek: The New Voyages? I know it's published by Bantam Books, and they are considered as licensed Star Trek material. So, what is licensed Star Trek material and what is not? "Troublesome Minds" has also been published, not in Bantam Books but in Pocked Books wich, acording of what I have read in Memory Alpha "Pocket Books is the imprint under which all current Star Trek mass market paperback novels are published" which I believe this makes this novel licensed material, and James Cawley has confirmed a few days ago in another thread here that "Troublesome minds is going to happen,it  has just been slightly pushed back on the schedule".

So, in which way is "Mind-Sifter" different to "Troublesome Minds"?

Rats, it is one of my favorite stories. I was hoping that since production had started it would be "grandfathered" in regards to Paramount's new decree. New Voyages 1 & 2 were the earliest Star Trek novels I remember reading when I first discovered there was more to this than watching repeats on TV.

I see. Then, "Mind-Sifter" and "Troublesome Minds" might not be filmed for those reasons, and the Harry Mudd episode (I believe it's "The Sky Above, the Mudd Below") is safe because the story comes from a comic (published by "DC Comics", if I'm not mistaken). Right?

Mind sifter is on hold and will be picked back up with Mr. Gross. All  other stories are just that stories.
