Growing up I use to wonder what I would do if I met an actor well at the time there were a few I wanted to..so many of the ones I saw in the westerns... I saw me,my eyes bugged out like the cartoon characters in a faint on the ground.Well this has not happened any time I have been honorably graced with meeting one...And believe me I do not live where any one would think any actor would show up The boondocks is not a hub for them...
Not counting the Trek actors; I have had the chance to meet a few writers,a director, some actors off differant shows. One I was told I would never be able to since I did not buy the package I HAD to to even be in the same room as he...well A wonderful ,manager allowed me to go and at the very least get an autograph which was mainly what he was there for. Talk about a visit I read the small print he was only going to be at the place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. he did a lot of travel just to be in one spot for 4 hours...pity the girls who thought he was there till the places closed.
Yesterday ( 6 15) was one of those days, I only had one thing on my mind getting a few seedlings to put in my garden and some house stuff done ...I did not even get my mail till way afternoon, and when I took a brake to grab a bite I looked over the paper the school sends out just to see what they were doing and If I agreed with it lol when I opened one page and it was splashed across the top CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT at the school yes I am into history esp the CIVIL WAR and have been to one other encampment and hoping to make it to another one this summer that is normally at the Seaway.. A few years ago I met a very tall fellow from Ticonderoga I even helped him come up with a name for his alter ego...So checking the time I had only a few hours left to see it. so off I go.
I met the leader very smartly dress in a Union uniform, sword and all. then I met the rest of the unit ,two members were from Canada, even the teens were keeping in character. Had a very nice chat with them all, got their names, a few pictures and even had a meal with them.. which I had not planned on.
It was not till I got home and was going to make a copy of the bit so I could put it all together to add to the things done in town for the historical group I belong to that I read
"Mr. Gilbert and the 118 th unit have participated in the movies " Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals" Two of three movies to be done."
Like I said you never know when your going to meet an actor... I have a chance to see them again in Sept when they will be at the Almanzo Wilder homestead with another encampment.
Just Checked the third movie is done and is to be out June 28th It is called *Copperhead*
