Looking for Civil War information
« on: August 21, 2013, 12:36:38 pm »
Since this is the 150th anniv, and will be going till 2015, I asked that our next museum exhibit be on the Civil War. and since this is MY idea the first I have submitted I'd like to have  it look some what good.

We do have a list of soldiers from here who served. Some having been in Andersonville, so finding information there will be easy.or even the BIG fights. Want I'd like is help in the smaller fights, skirmishes, battles, the ones that may  have been known only to those who lived where they happened so I can show more was going on than Vicksburg or Gettysburg.Esp out west what were the soldiers doing there while the fighting was going on in the east. I know some soldiers from out west were mixed in with units in the east, but not all came east to fight.

I want to add to this so in 2015 we can have a round up of what happened,so will have to use the next two years to collect all I can, but I want kids to see it was going on every where not just the places that made the newspapers of the time.

So if any one can help me find something that happened during OCT. 1863  would be very helpful, want to fill in as many days as I can.. and so you know I have googled and found some things but most sites want to lead me to Gettysburg or Vicksburg.

Thank you for any help.

Trying again I have tryed a few times to post a Thank you and get a notice I can't do it...

I did check out the link and found alots of stuff I can use, along with some things I  don't remember being told in history class.

This is either going to work out ok or I'm falling on my face, but it won' be from not trying. I'm not sticking with the things I view as *ALWAYS* being used. hoping I have found things that will make a person stop and think.

A girl told me of a site I may be able to find soem mor eout on the local soldiers I just need to bring a list home since no net at building yet.

HAve a good one
