Halloween humor
« on: October 31, 2013, 04:13:03 am »
There's a funny Halloween-related video on YouTube.  In it, a guy dresses up in a Grim Reaper costume.  He stands very still outside of stores, pretending to be an outdoor decoration, then jumps out at people when they walk by:

However, if I'd done this prank, I wouldn't have jumped out at the lady walking her Great Dane (dangerous) nor would I have jumped out at the lady pushing the baby carriage (not very nice).

I have done similar in hotel lobbies (at conventions) and theaters at movie premiers. I even did it in a bar on Halloween once, hich got the response from a young lady, that she would dream about me that night...and not in a good way.

Hehehe, if I'd been there and knew what this guy was doing, I'd have probably hired a little old lady, told her what the guy was up to, and asked her to walk by him and scream when he jumped out ... then grab her heart, collapse to the sidewalk, and play dead (evil grin).  Sauce for the goose...

FWIW, my ex-wife had no tolerance for horror ... and yet insisted on watching horror films (snicker).  She asked me to take her out to see "Poltergeist" when she was pregnant with our son.  And in the scene where the demon's face came out of the closet, she jumped up in the middle of the theater and screamed at the top of her lungs.  Other patrons started snickering and she slinked back down into her seat, embarrassed.  Hehe, I thought she was going to have our son right there on the spot   Another time at home, she was watching "Creature From the Black Lagoon" on TV.  I'd seen the film a number of times before and knew that a scene was coming up where the creature sneaked up behind a woman and put his hand (fin?) on her shoulder.  I was standing behind her ... and when the scene came up, I put my hand on HER shoulder at the same moment and made a low gutteral sound.  Again, she jumped up and screamed.  Hehehe, I never could figure out why she insisted on watching scary movies when she had no tolerance for them.  Oh, well...

Actually one place I worked had a halloween party and different groups would dress up hallways and cube farms for halloween then people were given the opportunity to walk through. One year our team dressed our hallway like a halloween cave. We had someone sitting on the floor who would reach out and touch people's leg. Had one young lady jump into another person's arms.  :hooray:
In those days spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri.

My Theater lobby one was in full Klingon costume at a Trek premier. It was the first showing and we were going to the second showing but had been asked by the theater to be there to add character to the event in return for free tickets. So I was standing at the end of this long hallway that people had to walk down to get to the lobby and I saw a group coming and just stood there in the middle. Once they were close enough for me to hear them commenting on the cool Klingon statue, I knew I had them. The got a little closer and them I moved into a sort of fight stance held up the batleth and gave a pythonesque "none shall pass". When they were done screaming, they went in and saw the movie.

I HOPE to be doing that tonight - but there's rain on the radar.

That's me in the hockey mask (with rotting corpse mask underneath), and my son as the Reaper - which fits with his online name of ThyReaper.

PROBABLY end up just sitting on the porch in costume, giving out candy.

Love it! :hyst:

Does the museum have a section dedicated to horror figures?  If so, I'd love to see a Dracula or Frankenstein's monster prank along those lines, hehehe.
