J.G. has been living in the Ithaca, NY,, region for the past few years.

"Hertzler, 63, known professionally as J.G. Hertzler, moved to the Finger Lakes area several years ago after coming to the Northeast from California. He performed in Rochester at Geva Theatre and then came to Cornell University in Ithaca as a visiting professor in acting."

He has been there since about 2008, I believe.

FYI, Robin Curtis (Saavik 2) has lived nearby since early 2000s; She as born and grew up near Utica, NY./

HHHHhhhmmmmmmm!!!!  Since Spock was Saavik's mentor at the time of TWOK, it might be interesting to see a young or teen-age Saavik make a brief appearance in a future P2 episoade.  I'm just sayin!   ;D

I think he was her mentor in terms of guiding her through Starfleet, which she was still in the academy for at the time of TWOK. I don't know if they knew each other before that. Having her appear in an earlier episode might be problematic also because it would hint at some sort of bond other than that of instructor and student. Now we never saw any indication of that, but then again Vulcans are a stoic bunch and might not let on about such. However I think that the pon far seen from STIII is much more poignant and says more about Vulcan society if they were not previously a couple.

OK, now back to Martok.

J. G. actually already worked on the P2 sets....he was in "Of God's and Men". In addition, he was slated to play Mudd in P2's Mudd episode. He injured his rotator cuff, though, and had to have surgery. After he recovered he said he'd rather direct the episode and had a couple suggestions to who might play Mudd.  With his teaching schedule, it just never happened yet.

qoSagh,

I discussed Robin's role as Saavik with her a few years ago during a phone conversation.  She credits her success and seeming ease with the role to the guidance of Leonard Nimoy; Robin was quite emphatic that Leonard's mentoring was invaluable! Robin is a true lady. :)

Gotcha, I was thinking more as characters not as actors.
