(Proof that Vulcans do smile - on occasion) >> :-)  :)

I've updated my mirror page to include info that "The Holiest Thing" (and subsequent episodes) will be considered "season 4" episodes unless "official" info says otherwise.  I also mentioned the dates for the June shoot ("Mind Sifter").

If other people (including Phase II) want to shoot craps with their private info on Facebook or any other social media sites, that's their decision.  BTW, in case you don't know, I created a "fake" Facebook account under a female name (grin) over a year ago.  I did it primarily because a lot of news media sites won't let people post comments on articles unless they have a Facebook presence.  If Facebook wants to sell or share the bogus personal info I left on this fake account, they're more than welcome.  But, the fake account also lets me "peek" over the shoulders of more public pages.  That's how I got the dates for the June shoot.  But, I never "Like" anything ... nor do I send or accept "friend" requests.  In short, my account is for "access only."

Anyhoo, I echo what others have said.  I have no particular hatred of the P2 Facebook pages.  I merely think forum visitors deserve "equal time" at the "same time" for info that affects the project.  As I said earlier, the forum gets new people, too.  And those new people should never be given a reason to abandon the forum for Facebook.  Nobody likes second-hand info ... and nobody likes an informational vacuum, either.

Nuff said.

Regards,
J. Alec West

P.S.  FWIW, back in the early 70s, I was "convinced" that quadraphonic stereo (remember that?) was the wave of the future.  And, I bought all the "right" equipment - both SQ format and discrete.  A few years later, the only place quadraphonic equipment could be bought was on the "clearance" shelves.

We used to have a store in town called Disc & Dat. It carried the new media of compact discs (DISC) and the even newer and soon to replace everything else digital audio tapes (DAT). A few years ago cleaning up stuff I found an old frequent customer card for the store with a few holes punched for discs and none punched for DATs

I don't begrudge your use of Facebook as your main portal to the world, keep all the better discussion and the pretty pictures there if that's easier for the staff. Just echo at least the main points about what is going on here as well.

We get a few new members here on the forums and some have posted recently & Alec is not the only one who prefers forums over FB.

Just my two cents but Star Trek Phase 2 passed 85,000 "likes" today on Facebook and the numbers continue to rise rapidly.  It has over 13,000 more "likes" than the "other" TOS fan film group and that gap continues to increase.  Thousands of people are discussing Phase 2 on Facebook and every time James, Patty  or anyone posts something to the page, its gets tons of praise and discussion.  I check in here every couple of days but there is almost no activity here anymore.  This forum just doesn't have the exposure of Facebook.  While I'm no great proponent of Facebook myself, I finally succumbed to "the dark side" (sorry) and joined a few years ago and found it an excellent way to keep up with my interest and friends.  I'm not to worried about Facebook mis-using my information, Target already gave it away!.  I think Facebook has given Phase 2 an exposure that it couldn't have gotten anywhere else and has helped tremendously to get the word out.  Just my two cents.

If you had a friend ... then found a second friend ... would you cherish both friends or abandon the first friend in favor of the second friend because the second friend was (in theory) more popular?  BTW, there are no forum "Likes."  "Likes" are a Facebook invention exclusive to Facebook.  So comparing Facebook "Likes" with forum popularity is an apples to oranges comparison.

Nothing wrong with additional exposure.  I don't think anyone's against that.  It only becomes a problem when "additional" morphs into "preferred" or "exclusionary."  Just my two cents.

I've not abandoned any "friends", I check in here nearly everyday, just as often as I ever did.  I'm not advocating any switch from the Forums to Facebook.  To each his own.  Everyone here has valid arguments pro and con that fit his or her own personal preference.  Seems even that fits Genes Rodenberry's vision of infinite diversity.   ;D

Patty doesn't post on FB on behalf of P2 any longer....or anywhere...which explains the lack of posts on the forum. I used to make sure things got cross-posted. Another something that fell through the cracks, unfortunately. They are supposed to be updating everything...let's hope things get smoother when they are done.

I was paying attention to the icons on the front page the other day and I noticed Phase II is also on Google+.  Since I have a Google account anyway, I started following on there to catch the latest news.  (at least it's not Facebook ;))

Just one more thought.  I think the reason we only get a "few" new members in the forum is a direct result of the forum being in such disrepair - and because people seeing both "forum" and "Facebook" representations can easily see that Facebook has become "the" source for in-the-loop project info.  So, anyone who says that the project's Facebook presence is more popular than its forum presence is merely echoing what appears to be a "self-fulfilling prophecy."  The state of the forum drives people away from it.  In light of that, it's no surprise the project's Facebook presence is more popular.

So who runs the forums now? I PM'd someone I thought was a likely suspect and have had no reply about a problem I am having that is making reading these difficult. I do hope I don't need a FB account to get tech support for the forums, lol.

Not sure.  I get the feeling I don't know anything about the forum anymore.  But, speaking about "disrepair," have you noticed that - even though more recent posts have been made to this thread - that the forum index page still shows my January 16th post as the most recent?  Go figure.

P.S. to my last.  If more recent posts are not acknowledged by this thread, it makes me wonder what other threads have more recent posts I haven't seen.
